Dwayne '(The Rock)Johnson Admits He's Seriously Considering a Run for President
Dwayne
Johnson, whom is the highest
paid movie star on
the planet and a pretty rad dad, is
serious with GQ about a desire to run for
President of the United States.
"I think that it is a real possibility," confessed the Baywatch actor.
"A year ago, it was becoming a reality. There was a real sense of
earnestness, which made me go home and had a re-think 'Let me really rethink my
answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is respectful and also truthful.'
In an interview, the 45-year-old actor, who
did not publicly endorse any candidate in 2016, tackles the topic of the
controversial travel ban proposed by President Donald
Trump.
"I disagree with it completely," he
said without hesitation. "I believe in our national security to the core,
but I do not believe in a 'ban' that bans immigrants. I strongly believe in
inclusion. Our country was built on that, and it continues to be made strong by
that."
As for how he thinks our current president is
doing so far?
"I would like to see a better leadership. I would like to
see a greater leadership. When there is a disagreement, and you have a large
group of people that you are in a disagreement with—for example, the media—I
feel like it informs me that I could be better," said Johnson. "We
all have our different issues, and we all going to work our s--t out. And I
feel like one of the qualities of a leader is not by shutting people out. I
miss that part. Even if we disagree, we got to figure it out."
If Johnson does run, you are better believe he will get the
big-wig backing of some serious Hollywood heavyweights.
Ron Meyer, the NBC Universal Vice Chairman, said: "If becoming the
president is something he focused on...he may would accomplish it. I think there
is nothing that he could not do."
When asked if he would vote for the superstar
when it came to election day, Meyer, whose studio produces the Fast
& the Furious-franchise, told us, "I would vote for him without a
question."
