Orlando Bloom Finally Addresses His Katy Perry Split and Those Nude Photos
In the May of ELLE U.K. (on
sale Apr. 13), the actor spoke at lenght for the first time about being
unknowingly photographed while paddle boarding naked last
year. At the time, Orlando Bloom joked about the experience by posting an Instagram video of
himself running on a pier, writing, "When you are running after the guy who stole your swimming trunks."
Thus, it is not as if he planned to have
pictures of his privacy all over the internet. In fact, Bloom admits it
"was extremely surprising" to learn the paparazzi had snapped photos
during his private vacation with then-girlfriend Katy
Perry. "I would not have put myself in that position if I
thought it would happen. I have been photographed a million times in a million
different ways. I have a good radar. We have been completely alone for five
days—nothing around us. There was no way anyone could get anything," He
recalls back. "I had a moment of feeling free."
What is done is done. "What can I tell you?" Bloom
asks. "Note to self: You are never free.

The actor did feel free to talk about Perry,
though. Talking about their breakup for the first time, He insists, "We
are friends. It is good. We are all adults with matured mind set.
She
happens to be someone who is very visible, but I do not think anybody cares
about what I am up to, It is between us. It is better to set an example for kids
and show that [breakups] do not have to be about hate.
It is a lesson He learned after splitting with Miranda
Kerr in 2013 after three years of marriage. Bloom is still
close to his ex-wife and not just for their 6-year-old son's sake. "With
Miranda, there was a sense that I do not want my son to go back through the
internet where people made up lies. Miranda and I have a wonderful relationship,
the actor says. "We cooperate really well as co-parent.
That does not mean they agree on everything,
however. Kerr is set to marry Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel—and last
July, the couple announced their engagement in Instagram, complete with a
custom Bitmojis and a special Snapchat filter. "I am not a millennial.
They live their lives through their phones. What happens to my son? How is he
going to have a real relationship if it is all happening on his phone?"
Bloom asks ELLE U.K. "Disconnecting
is greatly important."
